Hi there. I’m Nadine.
I believe the best results are produced through collaboration, which is why good relationships are so important to me. Who wants to work with someone they don’t like or trust?
While I provide professional service, I also tend to make it personal since it is just me, after all. Don’t worry—I won’t track you down on Facebook, but I may occasionally ask about your dog, your child’s Halloween costume, or your recent travel adventures.
My Backstory
I’m a Nova Scotian—born and raised on the shores of the Bay of Fundy (fun fact: it has the highest tides in the world). I started designing long before I realized that’s what I was doing. Armed with my Crayola markers, I illustrated ads for fictional dolls and other products at 9 years old. At 13, I built fan websites for my favourite bands. By the time I reached high school I realized that, hey, maybe I could actually get paid to do what I loved.
After graduating from college in 2003 with a degree in Graphic Design, I kicked off my career in advertising. After 5 years in the agency world, I spent several years as the in-house designer for a national cinema chain.
My spouse’s career change moved us away from the east coast and into rural Ontario. Not wanting to spend my life commuting a lengthy distance to work, my far-off dream of working for myself came rushing to the forefront.
Idea Nest was launched in September 2010. Thanks to the lifeline known as high-speed Internet, I’ve been able to work with international clients while enjoying the pleasures of small-town life.
When I’m not designing I spend most of my time with family and friends, often playing board games, kayaking, sampling craft beer, or attempting to be victorious at trivia night. I even made time to write and illustrate a children’s book, available on Amazon.com and Amazon.ca.
Do I sound like your cup of tea?
